The Caribbean and Pacific coastal
plains are hot year-round with temperatures rising to 38°C (100°F) in
the summer months. January temperatures in Guatemala are approximately
30°C (86°F), and as low as 7°C (45°F) during the evening. The warmest
months are March, April, and May with the average temperature in the
capital reaching 34°C (93°F), but it can turn chilly by comparison at
night.
In Quetzaltenango, the cold months have temperatures of around 24°C
(75°F) during the day, but will fall to below zero at night; during the
summer months the temperature rises to 33°C (92°F), again with cooler
nights. The Caribbean coast is wet year-round.
